Understanding your strengths and weaknesses

Marketing and Sales Assessment

The Marketing and Sales Assessment is a structured, expert-led review of an organization’s go-to-market strategy, plans, resources, ability to execute and ability to scale. Conducted by senior marketing and sales professionals with extensive experience with growth companies from start-up through IPO and beyond, it delivers results that enable to senior managers, investors and/or potential investors to focus attention on making the changes that are most likely to affect results and drive valuation.


Product Development Evaluation

The Product Development Assessment is a structured, expert-led review of a development group in critical areas that enable it to successfully deliver products that satisfy customers and meet the goals of the company.  The assessment is a detailed review of the development operations including performance vs. goals, management, staff development and retention, processes and methodologies, interactions with other departments, status of projects and product planning.  The project utilizes a series of interviews with key managers and others, both within and outside of the development organization; review of available process and other documents; and, if appropriate, direct observation of key activities.

Quick Look Evaluation

In some cases, a Quick Look at a functional organization is what is needed to understand the basic issues, rather than a full, structured evaluation.  In the course of a several-day study, an investment group can be given a high-level overview of the capabilities of the marketing, sales, service or development organization of a company in which it might invest, or an executive of a company can be given a first-cut at the areas of greatest strength or in which change is most needed.  The Quick Look Evaluation can be followed up by a full, structured evaluation of the organization, providing a complete due diligence for an investment group or a detailed plan for action for the executives of the company.

Mentoring and coaching

Often a small or growing software company will have managers with excellent potential but limited management experience.  The managers may come from the ranks of the professional or technical staff with strong credentials as individual contributors but limited experience in setting priorities, planning and budgeting, leading and motivating others or communicating effectively with senior executives, investors or boards of directors.  Often, some timely mentoring can help develop a promising new manager more quickly and effectively into a more accomplished and confident manager who delivers solid results for the organization.
Mentoring and coaching assignments take several different forms, ranging from a few hours a week with the manager to a concentrated day or multi-day session tackling specific issues or skill deficiencies.
